Joshua 1:5 ~ The Guardian Project, Inc.
In November of 2022, I found out I had Ampullary Adenocarinoma Cancer, following a major intestinal surgery; certainly not the news I was looking for. In January of 2023, just one week before chemotherapy was to begin, I found out that there were now four new lesions that had metastasized in my liver, taking me from stage three to stage four cancer. Over the next eight months, I was given hard chemotherapy treatments, that put my body through an incredible amount of beating, and tremendous weight loss. My body was incredibly weak, and I found myself relying on my wife and family, and others, to take care of me, in a lot of ways. My prayer during the entire year of 2023, and still to this day was, and is, “God, I love You… I trust You… I wait on You;” not necessarily an easy prayer, but one, that if allowed to become a consistent and honest prayer, brings incredible peace and comfort. Amazingly, my cancer responded extremely favorably to the chemo treatments, and at this point in my journey, in 2024, my intestinal cancer is in remission, three of the lesions in my liver, have completely disappeared, and the fourth has shrunk to an extremely small size, too small to biopsy. My oncologist has been, and continues to be very encouraged and excited. He has put me on a maintenance, chemo pill, to cover all bases, in regards to the small lesion, that I take every other week, and will continue to do so for two years. God has become so much more real, and dear to me, than ever before! MercyMe sings a song, in which there is a phrase that says “I’m gonna know what it means to live, and not just be alive.” I can never just be alive, EVERY day is a gift, and made to be lived to the full, for His glory! Simply put, I can never… EVER be the same!!!
Over the course of this past year, my wife and I have come to realize that this journey is extremely burdensome and taxing on so many patients and families. We’ve come to realize that there are so many legitimate needs that these patients and families go through and deal with, that many people never even realize. As a result of these revelations, and much prayer, we have felt led to form and organize the nonprofit, “The Guardian Project, Inc.“ Our mission, purposes and offerings are listed below, and we are so excited to be able to offer help, comfort and encouragement to many people. We look forward to the days ahead, and the mission God has for us, with “The Guardian Project, Inc.” More exciting news coming soon!
